Bookkeeper/Treasurer – Clerk PART TIME

The North Thompsonville Fire District is currently seeking a part time bookkeeper/Treasurer – clerk, approximately 16 Hours per week during the day and one to two evenings per month.

This Position is responsible for secretarial and financially administrative work involving word processing, bookkeeping, reception, scheduling and the performance of varied office duties for a small to moderate sized fire department. Responsible for the paying of the Fire District bills as authorized by the Board of Fire Commissioners. Also responsible for taking minutes of the Board of Commissioner’s meetings (evenings one to two times a month) and assisting the Board in preparing various spreadsheets for budget. Duties include typing reports and correspondence, receiving and directing visitors, answering phones, and maintaining files and records. This position also has the responsibility for making difficult secretarial, administrative, and work priority decisions. The work requires that the employee have considerable Bookkeeping knowledge, skill, and ability in all aspects of secretarial, bookkeeping and office procedures. Accounts payable experience using QuickBooks Pro is required.

An Associate’s Degree in accounting, finance or business or equivalent business experience, plus three years of progressively responsible clerical experience including public contact. Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Pro Accounts Payable experience are a must have.
